TOPIC: Best way to take numerous photos using mobile hip without slotting them

Re: Best way to take numerous photos using mobile hip without slotting them 10 years 9 months ago #56917

Peter , maybe I'm missing something. You can take misc pictures, I think you get that. Are you trying to slot directly on mobile? We've set things up so that guys are taking the majority of pictures directly in the section. The misc should really only be used when absolutely needed. Slotting back on the desktop will be much faster than anything we could do on mobile. I could see adding this in the future, I'm just not exactly sure why.

That's the problem we have with mobile photo taking on HIP Dom.
We are in big trouble if you do not get it.
There are lots of us that prefer photo note taking.
We would like to slot photos into desktop from mobile and add captions as we go but write the report off those pre slotted and captioned pictures .
Please say you can get that.

Why would you do the drop downs from mobile. I don't get that part as it's MUCH faster on the desktop. If you're not in the section itself you're basically just taking lots of pics, which is fine, I get that you want to do things that way (that's why I added the MISC button, just for you!). Slotting on mobile on a tiny screen, like you do on desktop, won't be very fast and will require lots of scrolling around. What do you see differently that I don't? If you have time to slot then you might as well be in the section taking comments. Help me understand!

We have TONS of guys including 70-100 pics with mobile. Heck , I saw one with 300 pics yesterday. They're slotting as they take the pics though.

Of course we're always adding pics, but a feature like you're discussing is a 40+ hour project all by itself and so far there's 2 guys asking for it. You need to get a little more people as there's a lot at the top of the list right now that a ton of people are asking about.

Hi Dom

In most cases when using HIP mobile, opening up a section, clicking a comment and taking a picture is fine.

However, my main issue is when using the HIP mobile app is on the outside of the property.

This time of the year, it's raining c, 50% of the time and freezing the other 50%.

Trying to keep somewhat dry when clicking, clicking, clicking, clicking, clicking, clicking on the mobile app forces me not to use it and use the point and shoot camera and slot using desktop.

When it's not raining it freezing, I know from experience my fingers will not hack it if exposed to the freezing conditions over an extended period of time, that is needed with all the clicking.

This is why I would like to take pictures with the HIP mobile app (possible in Misl) and then slot them when I go inside the property which should be at least dry and normally warmer.

As a result of the practicalities of surveying, I revert back to the using the point and shoot camera.

I know I could used the HIP mobile when the weather is ok or when I go back indoors, but it easier to stick with one device (if possible) from the start to the end of the inspection.

In the meanwhile is it possible to have the pictures saved in HIP Misl to be uploaded along with the full report and then slotted while using the desktop

If this was Superman I would be on the Bizarro world where logic is reversed.
Why would I want to even own a smart camera for mobile using your logic ?

Same logic why would I want to write the report on mobile when I can type faster on a home keyboard.

Lets go back to square one.
Average report for me is 250 pictures and yes I want them because my entire business revolves around a photo report
and is the reason I use HIP.

My take is that even though you are the dev of a great desktop photo software you do not understand
wanting pictures in a report at this point which makes me sad.

I want to save that one hour at home by slotting them as I take them in rapid a fashion as I can (on site)(as I go).
Inverse is that I am not out there trying to click on canned language for text comments as I prefer to use captions
for location and base comments rather than trying to decide exact language I will use in the report under pressure
when I may fail to see a connection between seemingly unrelated defects at the time.

Misc is great but why cant I slot them from misc ?
Is that an impossible  task under the present file system in mobile ?

It feels as if the present system of clicking through every section back and forth is clunky to me when
a system more like desktops 2 drop boxes to pick slotting is much more efficient. They are stationary and do not require clicking back and forth.

The return or snapback feature helps but seems geared to text clickers rather than photo note takers.
Reason I sate that is because snap back does not work from the photo edit section meaning multiple clicks are still needed to go back and forth every section change.

Home button would be nice from photo section and so would ability to slot from misc because there is no way to reslot under the present system once a
picture is taken.
