Been diving deep into research and spent at least a total of 5-6 hours playing with tablets at the local Best Buys.
OK so I have no life...lol There are only 3 to consider as of this time. Not necessarily in order here. *Mini I pad....($329) * Nexus 7 the new version (just came out) ($269) *Galaxy Note 8.0 ($379) 1)Dom states mini I pad is best for HIP at this point...OK fine if HIP is the only thing you use a tablet for ..yeah right. It is good and Apple has many fans plus there are more apps made for tablets on their app market..check. 2)Nexus7 Google tablet is the best for the money and has the best image of all no matter price. The processor is snappy because of the slightly smaller screen and has the latest Jelly Bean update one can find (no others have it) It feels damn good to hold as your fingers wrap around a sort of rubbery surface and the sound is actually stereo. It gets websites faster than all. 3)The Galaxy Note is what I settled on. It comes with a S pen or scribe which allows you to easily take notes. The second you pull the stick it pops out a blank note for you to write on. You can sketch or use handwriting recognition. The Note 8.0 also has something really cool in multi screen. You can split the screen just like on a regular desktop and do 2 things at once. I was just watching a you tube video and surfing the web at the same time moments before writing this. Yes it costs more but heck for that extra $100 it sure is fun. Anyway I hope this helps a little if you are trying to decide. Condo Bob |

Just wish to make a quick addition though I could go on and on.
The Note 8 is the only one of the three to allow expansion of storage. You can add a micro SD with no problem while neither the Google tablet nor the Apple tablet allow expansion. If you wish to store lots of files then go with the note. |

Peter I personally do not think using a tablet is a good way to have an attractive report. (let me explain)
The whole Mobile cloud system is predicated on sending your files to the web and they are smaller files. To explain what I mean in relation to the above statement the photo resolution sucks taking pictures with any detail. HIP is such a photo centric and great looking PDF that I do not wish to muddy that and bring down what for me is a reputation now. About 80-90% of my business this year is referrals based on my detailed reports. For me it is best at the text comments (search as you type) but not great at pics as with (Android at least) because the app bogs down and needs you to back out and let (even my 1.5 processor with 2 gigs of ram) it reset. You will find this from Dom's and others comments. Though I have not tried it the I pad may be the smoother choice if only HIP is a consideration. I also have the ("Android Camera") which seems to be doing pretty good with handling the pictures lately. Bad part is my photos look unfocused now due to the mobile file size restrictions. (example) I took a water heater label picture and could not date it because of the lack of sharpness. It is all getting there but not quite. darn it I love the new beta which allows video insertion. Not for the report but because I can place videos by category for notes. (only issue is lack of audio) so not quite ready). Desktop or any windows for now is the safest way to go but many are using mobile on an everyday basis so it may depend on your uses and amount of photos. Again to sum up (Go with Apple) if you need the best HIP experience take all into consideration. Good option here may be to also combine Mobile and desktop then refine the report . |

Bob, the file size on HIP Mobile is identical to that in HIP. If you're getting some bad quality images send them to me to take a look at as we may need to adjust the algorithm some.

Notice I need to send pictures with any detail to gallery first if viewing is needed later.
With my tablet it does not matter as tablet pictures are lower quality to begin with. My comment applies to the Android camera which has a better optical lens and higher mp to begin with. |
