TOPIC: Photos disappearing

In most pictures you physically should not be able to see much of a difference between 5 and 12. Look at two images from the same camera side by side and you'll see what I mean.

That actually used to be a common issue a few years back if you had two copies open at the same time.
Check you are using a new version of HIP to be safe.Are you on2.9.0?

There might still be an actual bug in there somewhere but it's not something I've been able to reproduce.

Okay, a couple questions for you:

1. Is there a way to see when Java updated last.  If it did it last night at about 12:25 then it might narrow it down for me.  I would see about changing the update time to the middle of the night or not at all.
2. I think I did clear all the photos before I reinserted them the third time, but is the file bad, would it be better to start over completely?
3. I still have the file as it was saved last night, I didn't make any changes. Should I send it to you?


And Dom, am I correct in assuming that it doesn't make any difference what size your photos start out at, HIP brings them all down to the 260x350 range and the resolution is all the same at that point?

Makes a difference to me Dom,especially if trying to read print and I sometimes crop, but I have a great camera and neither here nor there since HIP reduces the size anyway.

Bob, those aren't the originals though. You've already reduced though.

2) Nope, just clear all photos.
3) No, I have several files from guys over the past year that have had it happen. Just keep me apprised if it happens again after the next update.

Dom, It has happened to me now last week.(end of July 2011) I uploaded a bunch of photos, added comments then saved and generated a report. After viewing the report I jumped back into the inspection to edit some photos --but the photos and comments were all gone. Fortunately, I had saved the report, but did not like having to submit a report I felt was unfinished.
