When using photos for notes the most negative impact besides doing text twice is the inclusion of more pictures in the report than needed. I slot them and then go back to use as notes in order of the report which is nice ...but. The only way to remember material items often is to have that picture already slotted as we add the text and thus end up with un needed photos inside the actual report. Example: Bathroom floor is vitreous tile. {now} photo of floor to remind me of material that ends up in the report unless going back and forth from photo edit to text edit then back again to repeat the process. {upgrade} stay in photo edit and write "vitreous tile" as a caption and have option to add caption text only to summary if "tile is loose" and have it appear s red under the caption as well. The photo would show as regular in report body but not in summary.(only caption in red would show in summary) |

OK one more comment because I am going through my template on an off day.
Even a second dropdown in photo caption would help for sentence building. I show a tub spout but under Bathrooms/tub and showers (look two drops for sections) Now for location I want [spout] and to add [2nd floor bathroom] Only two drop downs or what Drew suggested would be effective. Way it is now I must either have locations such as 1st fl -2nd floor-full bathroom or half bathroom or decide to add component descriptions instead and type in location by hand. Doing it all in one drop down makes it to lengthy.(the dropdown) |

Would strongly agree with your comments Bob.
Being able to save a "Caption" as Red or Black comment and automatically populate the summary section would be a great time saver, at least for how I currently use the HIP mobile software. |

Bob, I get what you're saying but I don't think that's what Drew is saying. All his pics were from the reporting side, not pics.

In my view there certainly is a difference between both Drew's and Bobs ideas.
However, as HIP has been a leader in inserting pictures into reports, is Bobs idea a runner or would it's implementation require a major jump in software programming to further enhance HIP's lead in incorporating pictures into inspection reports. |
