TOPIC: How to speed up your computer, for free

Based on my previous experiences and other reading, it appears that McAfee 'conveniently' leaves some stuff behind.  Maybe the later versions do not.  In any event, while waiting for some replies yesterday, I used Revo Uninstaller, then installed Avira Free Virus Protection becuase it was top rated by PC World recently.  All seems to be ok - I'll try it for a while to see how it goes, then switch to AVG if needed.  Thanks

Sounds good. McAfee must not be MS Certified anymore as you have to remove all files that you install to be. Though maybe there's some exceptions in there that I don't know about.

Hey you mentioned saving over $1000 today from following my advice.

I know where/how to get things inexpensively but still maintain high quality. It helps make business run smoother. I follow the same logic for HIP. Half the price, twice the product. Now if I could only get you a week off inspecting to give you time to start using your copy of HIP I totally understand the position you're in though. You're maxed out on inspections, even giving them away and have no time! I really appreciate your support on the boards.

What about Avast Dom ... I've heard from some other techies that AVG is adding more and more crap to their software. Any truth to that?

No in my opinion. They've added a paid version which I'm sure was planned all along. Avast is a good program too.
