TOPIC: A new way for mobile users to collect data

I been waiting to buy a new windows 8 pro tablet, however the new smaller android camera as you are showing maybe the way to get c,99% of the report completed on site.
From your experience to date would you need to seriously update the number of comments, {{notes}} and captions that would be used on (say for example the default template) working off hip windows

That depends on need to caption.
caption is nice if you want to scroll and add them but not needed if you just use location type captions as on Android there is the swift keys which predicts what you will type.
Watch my vid and you see me do one by voice  and the last segment shows me scrolling the caption list but typing in a directional comment instead.

As far as issues or comments in general goes the search as you type feature eliminates all need to scroll or use notes

just type ''flashing ''and all your flashing comments pop up.

Your excellent video demo gives me a view that the new android cameras maybe the way to go, (as long as you get the template right).
I expect that transferring pictures taken from a good camera into a labtop / computer is probably more time consuming then typing on a small screen that has an inbuilt feature to take good pictures as seen on your video.  Plus you have the additional advantage of having less equipment to carry around when inspecting.
I have been waiting for a small ipad or a new windows tablet device that will be light enough to carry around during an inspection, however I don't expect any of these tablets will have a decent camera in the short or medium term, so I will be back to having two devices to carry with me.
Think I will treat myself to a android camera for christmas and work on my template to suit hip mobile, unless you have any other insights to help make an informed decision.

Can you take a screen shot of the android samsung camera. You can use the gps feature to locate the site you arecinspecting, how can you take a screen shot of this map from the camera??

You swipe the edge of your open hand across the screen and it takes a screen shot which I do not like as much as the EVO LTE which has dedicated button combination for the same purpose.
My hand swipe does not work 100% and needs repetition many times.

well i bit the bullet and bought the camera.  Its awesome.. infact i find it faster then a tablet and easier. However I do finish it up on a laptop. However 10mins and Im done.. Sure its expensive however worth it. If your worried about the battery life you can charge it in the car if you get the USB plugs adapters.  Thanks for the video Bob.
