TOPIC: I need help to individualize each bedroom and bathroom

I need help to individualize each bedroom and bathroom 16 years 3 months ago #2244

When I generate report to review...I only see one bedroom. ( for example master bedroom)  When I save report and go back in to do another room. The generate report shows only that room ( for ex. guest room) Im looking for separate pages for each room.

Hi David,

I know I already responded to you via email. Just in case anyone else needs the question answered (and so people don't think we ignore the board!), here's the answer.

If you want a separate page for each room click edit template click bathroom, click copy as many times as you need, and do the same with bathrooms. When it asks for the name of the copy give it the title you want like Master Bedroom. You also might want to click bathroom first, click locations on the right and delete I as you want need the locations tab. Let me know if this makes sense!

I have used the same technique as Dominic stated for a multi-unit building Inspection.
You will have two things happen.  More information to fill out and more time needed to complete your report.  Some HIP users are packing all the rooms / units inspected under one tab and just use the description/location in the sub-category. Your report will increase in size like mine did.  Large reports like mine can be overkill..  90 + pages and hours of work..
Not worth the $ / hour factors..  Grocery store bagger makes more money at some point.  :o

So Patrick, what are you suggesting?  Are you saying don't do it Dom's way?  Is there another way you have come up with?  You could always use the Texas template.  It goes by system and not by the room.

I personally find it confusing when I read reports where someone has grouped all the rooms together and use a descriptive format to pinpoint the problem.  In my mind it seems like clutter.  I like things neat and organized.

You are right in saying it makes it longer in time and length, but I would rather do that for my customers than make them read through clutter.  And ultimately they are the ones that are going to approve or disapprove of the format.

Patrick,

I was kind of confused by what you're saying too. Mind to elaborate? Obviously there's a few ways to lay things out.

1. You can do it completely system by system like the Texas template where all plumbing is one one section all electrical is in one section etc. Then you point out a problem and where it exists withing that section.

2. You use the default where it's per room but there's one bathroom & one bedroom section. You list the locations for the bathroom & bedroom, i.e. Master #1, Guest Bathroom #2, 1/2 Bath Downstairs #3. Then as you're going through the bathroom tabs you add a comment to black/red then add #1,#2, or #3 (or a combo of those) at the end of the comment. This creates a legend at the top of the page and keeps the page shorter and condensed.

3. You go completely one section per room and go to edit template and click copy for each bathroom and bedroom you have.

I'm sure there's even some other variations out there!

Dominic I find the best way is system by system combined with individual sections for Kitchen and Bathroom.

The rest of the interior has far fewer comments , so there is really no need for say a separate Dining Room and Living Room section as they fit nicely under Interior together.

The time consumption comes mainly in reduplicating material comments.

Do you really need a separate D/R walls are Drywall followed by L/R walls are drywall.

You can get click happy that way.

I have considered making the top half of the report reserved for all the material comments as another option.
