Well, if you do not mind, here are my first few questions. I might as well ask them on this thread instead of posting new threads, unless you think otherwise.
I am planning on working with the program at least an hour a day, writing down questions as I go along. 1) When going back to an incomplete report, is there any way to know where you left off? 2) On the bar of components within a section, why are some green colored and some black? 3) I'm a bit confused as to where you put a problem you note....for example, say I find a loose, broken 220v dryer recepticle in the basement laundry area. Would that get placed under electrical in "basement", or just electrical. I guess I'm just more used to more general topics, like all plumbing under plumbing, or all electrical under electrical. 4) in many of the boxes of comments, there seem to be columns of comments. Is there a way to make them all just one long list to scroll down instead of having to move your cursor sideways to see more? That would seem much easier. Please know that I am not complaining.....just wanting to master the program. thanks! Frank D. |

Hi Frank,
1) See #2 2) Components of a section that you've selected a rating on if it has a rating, or just viewed if it doesn't will turn green to let you know you've viewed that item. Otherwise it'll remain black. 3) That's really up to you. Most guys would put it in the basement and they just leave the main electrical for panels, conduits, meter, etc. Others do like the System by System and it would be in electrical. Check out Serge's template, Residential Template 2 or the Texas template if you like this method. 4) Under Report Settings->Options->Item Options set both panel types to be 1 across. Going Left/Right is actually much easier the going Up/Down. The reason is that you know that a single click will always give you an entire screen full of new comments. When you scroll up/down you'll always have a propensity to recheck the first few comments to see if they are items you've already seen then you'll scroll farther down. Glad to help, ask away. |

Well guys,
I pulled the trigger and am now the proud owner of HIP. I took advantage of Dominic's nice holiday offer. Now I need to get to work getting to know the program better and to make my own template, etc...... Merry Christmas everyone! Frank |
