That's a popular method however I set up in the kitchen and start there as it serves as my base camp since they sign the agreement there and I finish with payment there. We do the verbal summary there also.
I actually save the roof for last so those in a hurry can leave . Most of my roof inspections are done by high definition video as I see no reason to risk danger when the issues are seen from the roof structure, and roof penetration flashing for the most part. I actually get a better view with angles not possible for a guy on the surface. P.S I am a professionally trained climber |

Very interesting Bob!
I understand starting in the kitchen. Makes good sense, and if clients are there when the inspector gets there that's perfect. The video idea is interesting...first time I've heard of it. Great the things I learn online here. I have been on a few roofs that were questionable. Do you embed the video clips in your report, or take stills from that for your report, and keep the video for your records...? I bet clients are impressed seeing video of places in the house they would rather not venture to......I could see it could be quite applicable to Florida crawlspaces, inside chimneys, attics as well as roofs....... Hi Frank
Getting there early does not do me much good in Chicago as I would never step on a private property alone. Far as the video goes I simply use camera mount on a 28 foot window washers pole and it works great . I get still shots off the High def by capturing them off the video as I Analyze it. Get shots down chimneys and close ups of fascias, windows on third floors, etc. Takes around a 3 minute video and saves on site time. I simply replay to make sure I got all suspect areas. Show clients the vid when back down and they love it. |

Dear Dominic,
I sent you his name in an e-mail......I'm sure it probably would not be a problem, but on the slight chance he might not wish his generosity towards me known, I let you know his name that way. I have not spoken to him or met him yet...all communication has been e-mail. It means so much to me I did not wish to mess it up.... He is an enthusiastic user of both your software and your website service, so I'm sure you should recognize the name. Thanks! Frank D. |
