TOPIC: Burned by CC processing company

Burned by CC processing company 15 years 2 weeks ago #23708

Set up CC processing through website in Feb. After getting overcharged for several months it was finally corrected. Just looked and was hit with a $124.00 charge. I know some about the verification or what ever it is the banks have to go through but bloody hell. I have not even had one client use it.

Okay, I feel better now.

I had a similar issue when I started. I contacted them and reminded them I was with HIP, they took care of it and fixed the problem. Contact them and tell them you are with HIP.

Michael,

It took over 6 weeks and many phone calls, messages and Dominic's help to get the first mistake corrected. They lost brownie points during that exchange. This is due to their costs for card verification services or some other reason to pass costs along to their customers. Dominic can explain the reasons better than I can but I can't believe that a customer that has not even used the service can get hit this hard.

Mike, as Jeff stated and everyone has gotten via mail many times, Visa, Mastercard, Discover & Amex are all requiring ALL merchants to become "PCI" complaint due to millions of card numbers getting stolen last year from merchants (mostly large ones like Barnes & Noble). This is basically there way of taking care of things before the federal government gets involves and mandates this and is more restrictive and expensive. The bank doesn't get any of the money, the third party verification company does. Unfortunately we're even stuck with a $5,000 a year charge direct from Visa since your data touches our server. For us, that stinks as we don't charge you guys anything for the server so we make nothing off of it! Of course Visa doesn't care if you've run 0 card or 10,000 cards, the verification company still charges the same (if all our users were over 350,000 transactions we'd over even more). It works out to $10 a month. It stinks, but it still makes the service much cheaper than any other company as discussed in the other thread on this. I do understand your frustration!

Make sure you've gone through the PCI compliance program they've been sending out. They were supposed to have a plan in order to split it up monthly, but I guess TrustWave (the compliance company) didn't get that together in time.
