Hi Guys, here is the Nifast template and sample that I made. It is a mimic of the written checklist that NiFast uses. The template still has a few typos in it (not many) as I have not given it the final proof read.
I approached NiFast with the idea a couple of weeks ago, of making their checklist on a template. They were very receptive to the idea, they just wanted to see a sample first. The one problem that I and others have seen that needs to be addressed is that this inspection does not follow any standard of practice. If NiFast had one, they could base their entire program around it, including their education program. Without a standard, I feel we are hurting ourselves also in the performance of the inspection. The point here being, if you inspect a house, and say a fire were to occur. When the insurance companies and the attorneys get done, someone will ask if there is a minimum criteria that the inspection was performed to. I do not feel that a checklist is enough. I was talking with Russ Spriggs this weekend, and we thought we would put together something to present to NiFast as a standard to begin with. I feel that to have this it will give the inspection some name recognition. It may also address the conflict with what the local FD can offer. I took the Nachi heating standard and sliced it up a bit. I will post it and you can see what I mean. If anyone would like to be a part of this, take a standard or create on and post it. We can all look it over and dissect it. Then we can put it together and present it to NiFast. If you like, we can use this thread or create another thread in another section for discussion. |

Good job Drew.
If there is anything I can do, I am willing to help here. I looked at it briefly and will print it out tomorrow and examine it a little better. I was even thinking of going to the FD and see if I could get there input on some of this stuff. If anything, might get a different insight of things to this matter. Talk to you soon. |
