Certainly a variety of prices and services. Dom don't sell us too low. I think you need to make various pricing per region or even better per state. I would never do inspections for some of the pricing that has been posted using home inspector pro software. On average it probably takes anywhere from 4-6 hours to do a thorough inspection and write a thorough report (not including the traveling). With foreclosures and short sales there is a greater likelihood that the house will be a bomb and the report will take longer than usual........

One person said they would travel 150miles without an additional charge (in my own state no less)??????? Say what?

With taxes on earnings, overhead and insurances if I'm not making $50 an hour it is not worth it.....period. I usually make at least a $100 an hour and I am worth every penny and then some. I am not trying to toot my own horn but c'mon everyone we are professionals and should be paid accordingly.

The banks want to know average prices per state. We're only helping to collect data and then they'll use that to figure out how much to be paying. Yes, it's very well known that inspection prices will vary by state. Some states have average home prices of $50,000 and others average $250,000. Home sizes vary from 1000 square feet averages to 2500 square feet. Home age averages vary as do many other features. That's why we're getting as much info as possible.

They'll be figuring out the prices in the end and you guys will decide whether to take the inspection or not. They've talked to both ASHI & NACHI and both told them the average inspection price is $250-$600 depending on the location in the country.

These are NOT homes where a short sale or any sale is going on. You're not doing inspections for a buyer or seller. The inspection is so the bank can figure out how much it'll cost to fix up a place, whether they should at all, whether it should be sold or sat on, etc.

If I understand the process properly, Dominic is not selling us at all. The banks will take all of this information and come up with their own price based on the average of the state you are in. You at that point can take the job or leave it for the next guy. It seems as though the banks want the information to see if the prices that they may have already set will work.
