I just went to the C drive and I am using 22.1 of 123 GB. Good, but there is a box to check to compress the C drive. Should I check it? Also, when I restarted the computer I got the System Configuration box, saying that the Config system will do this selective thing each time I start the computer, but I can check a box to tell it not to do that and simply restart. I assume I check that box?

When you check that box it will take you back to a normal logon and any changes that you made for the startup will revert back and be loaded when you restart the computer.
It is kind of a testing the startup situation where you temporarily shut down startup applications when you have trouble booting your computer. Checking the box puts you back in the normal logon sequence. |

There's an option to tell it to not remind your and leave your settings.
NEVER check the compressions box. It compresses your hard drive files and slows things to hell. Norton home edition is horribly slow (corporate is fast, go figure). Use AVG. I use the free AVG virus scan and spyware scanner. Webroots Spysweeper that you're referring to is an excellent program as well. I prefer to just run my spyware scans manually rather than have them running all the time. |

Yeah go back into MSCONFIG , one of the options must have been for the shock sensor which parks your hard drive if it senses your laptop falling. Look through the things you unchecked and see if one of them has a name relating to sensor or shock, etc.
