If I may interject here just for clarification....
I think based on the meaning of Troy's request (and Andy's duplication of it in other words), this thread might have been better titled "Data Placement Template" or "Data Arrangement Template" or something else, since the execution of the new feature would happen at the time of reporting, which for a lot of people (but not all) is at the office. Bob's comments, if I understand correctly, point to more of a short cut for getting around HIP, and one that would be greatly appreciated by users of HIP mobile...during the inspection...during "Data Collection." Is that right, Bob? If I got Bob's suggestion correct, then his short cut is like a 2-click "speed navigation." Is that what you are calling a filter, Dominic? |

Yes Scott
I definitely am talking about navigation shortcuts. It is all interrelated. If we are at interior smoke detectors and need to go straight to electrical a back to start button is something we would all like. No more over hitting the return button would take place. Loving this new note 8 tablet so far. The S pen is fun. |

Ok, Dom I understand what you are saying about the duplicate content. Receptacles are a good example to use as well because you could have the same issue at the exterior as well as the interior.
This is my open ground comment in the electrical section under receptacles. OPEN GROUND There was a receptacle(s) that had an open ground. You should have this corrected. LOCATION: What if this comment was in the exterior section, interior section, garage section, or wherever you wanted it and when information was entered after LOCATION: all the "There was a receptacle(s) that had an open ground. You should have this corrected." comments would merge to the receptacle section with the information added after LOCATION: being the data collected. Is that even possible? |

Troy, exactly. This would be extremely difficult because of the English language. How can the program know what part of the narrative to merge? Your suggestion that everything after the word LOCATION be merge but what do with narratives that aren't that clean? What if the narratives aren't exactly the same in each section? It's just a giant, complex issue. You could hard code it for some things but I can't figure out anything clean to work for all situations.
