I find it very efficient based on my menu layout and method of inspecting.

I'm in the same camp as Troy and Andy.
Like most I find issues to report in multiple sections in most every room and have to keep bouncing around. It would be great if all the comments for electric, plumbing, HVAC, ect. went to thier respective sections with out the extra clicks. Most all of us inspect room by room but I suspect report system by system. |

I see exactly what you guys are saying from a yet different perspective.
Been trying to find a fast enough way to slot photos on mobile and as mentioned go outside and doing exterior am taking all exterior shots but then come up the the service meter and want that in electrical for instance which means backtracking lots of clicks for one picture then doing the revese to continue on. Would be nice to take the picture then have the drop down for photo comment be a slot feature that determines where the pic goes after taking. Not sure how that could be done though. guess it would be close to the desktop with the two section drops for slotting. Would save a lot of clicks however. |

I include exterior taps or electrical wiring in the grounds section and leave them out of their most relevant sections, ie. Plumbing and Electrical.
If they are in a reasonable condition then I comment on them in Black, but if there are defects, they are highlighted in Red, which means that they are further highlighed in the summary section. This means that my client certainly knows about possible problems, however I can see the benefits if the exterior taps and electrical wiring (and other examples) automatically default to their natural home. |

Andy had said...
....And I think that pretty well sums it up. Andy also said...
....And I believe he's right. It would save a ton of "manual labor" on the part of the user who wants to report system by system but who has to inspect room by room. As someone who is still deciding on how to organize his template and design comments in order to manually accomplish Troy's request with what HIP provides right now, I can say I would love to have this feature in HIP. It appears to me what Troy and Andy have described is almost like what you can get from a relational database.... |

Nobody has given a logical solution here on how to prevent duplicate comments from now appearing in the system based report. For example, if 3 smoke detectors are bad in the house your system template now how:
The smoke detector in the master bedroom was not functioning properly. We recommend having this fixed before moving into the home. The smoke detector in the downstairs guest bedroom was not functioning properly. We recommend having this fixed before moving into the home. The smoke detector in the upstairs West bedroom was not functioning properly. We recommend having this fixed before moving into the home. The is obviously very unattractive and why I abandoned this project years ago. The goal would be: The smoke detector in the master, guest and upstairs West bedrooms were not functioning properly. We recommend having these fixed before moving into the home. In a room by room or hybrid template these comments would be in different sections. Multiple duplication like this dozens of time per report and your report becomes very unattractive. Any ideas or solutions? |
