I forget what Bob's using. 5x is fine. I'm just saying if you can get less megapixels and more zoom, go for the zoom!

Sounds good. Is 2 megapixels the point of diminishing returns?

Yes it is great.
They have a new version I have not looked at yet, and I dis agree with Dom on needing MP'S but from the HIP program standpoint he is right.

When looking at serial numbers you will not be using photos from HIP to look at them.
You will most likely need to have your picture files open while doing the report.

This is where a good zoom and MP's come in.
I often take a broad view then thanks to higher MP can zoom in without graininess.

Also important if you grab stills off video mode.

I see where Dom is coming from,but that only applies while inside the program.

I'm a canon fan.  I've got an SD1000, SD1100 and two SD1200's.  I buy them on sale at Fry's for about $130.  There very durable and last until I drag them through about 40 or so sub areas.  At that point in time the retractable lens starts to stick from all the dirt and debris.  I send them back to canon for a warranty repair and then they go into the (NO) sub area back up inventory....

I agree with Will. I love my Canon. With the software that comes with it shrink photos. It is easy.
