No check boxes here.  Take the time, build your library of narratives.  It doesn't take any longer to check a narrative statement then it does to check a box, especially if you use the     as headlines.

When you are working on a report, open up a 2nd copy of HIP.  When you have a statement, brand, information or whatever that you want to add to your library, or you decide to move things around, do it in the 2nd version running.  Once you are done with your report, save the 2nd copy running as your new template.

Setting up a decent library takes time and is a never ending process.  Make sure the wording you choose can be explained to a customer in clear, layman terms.  What exactly does "serviceable" mean?  Does it mean it functions?  Does it mean it isn't working but can be fixed?  It is left over from old time carbon copy, tear apart, checklist reports.  Computers give you much more opportunity to look professional and explain your findings while still only checking a single box.

Some states require ratings.  Most do not.  Service your client with information, not a checked box.  JMHO.

There is nothing sweeter than the smell of fresh cut grass on a baseball infield, the click of a wooden bat and the taste of a hot dog at a warm sunny daytime double-header.

Why do it in a separate copy of HIP versus doing it in the copy you're working on?

I was wondering that....can you just "save template" from the inspection and will it save the comments?  I think you have to put them in the comment area on the Damage panel right?

I'm all for good narratives...just thinking that if I had three boxes for R/R Repair/Replace, S-HAZ for Safety Hazard, and Major for Major Concerns that it would help the client to more easily pick out those issues within the report....I'm still on the fence here though.

"SAFETY HAZARD - Balusters & railing system missing around portions of the balcony. Contract a qualified contactor for futher evaluation, and repair as necessary".

If you have a narrative, it spells it out for your client.
