Depends on where you live.
The longer the list of comments gets the more difficult to find and typing new becomes faster. In Chicago there are many variables. As far as saving reports as templates go I gave that up once I figured out it also saves the ones that are unique and not needed, making the templates too bulky. |

Dominic, Gary and Bob,
I think I might try what I think you all are geeting to. I will take the time to refine my Narratives, then when on site use the narratives as a base line and then add more detailed descriptions, if needed when I get back to the office. This will speed things up I think by not doing things twice and making the summary page , just a list of safety issues and major defects. This will all speed up the report by using a narrative instead of writing everything for the summary. Thanks everyone, I just need to figure out the Tablet issue now. I will be watching the message board for your opinions. Until I get back, enjoy what you do, life can be short. |

Steven,
Dominic is right on with his list. Follow it and you will be fine! I have always used my report as a marking piece. I have a 3 second rule...If I can find the comment I need in that time, I move on. I'll write or a journel/note and or take a pic for reference. Steven...pick a tablet and go with it. The ones listed here will all do pretty well. Ironically..I saw my cousin this weekend(He's a software/electrical engineer). He developed that first Clio Tablets(later 90's); and actually put tablets in the space station above your head. Today he like Lenovo's enterprise tablets. |

Thanks Dan,
I have decided to go Droid. I learned enough about the new 1phone4s to now stay away. I am going to try the recommendations given, using a Droid Galaxy SII phone, and a Tablet, (make yet unknown) and get the new software. |

Sounds like a good plan Steven!
I had a LG Android for 2 years which I liked. The Galaxy is a nice phone, 4G, big screen, quality seems nicer than the Nexus. I do have a Iphone4 which I "love"...but for different reasons. But Steven...why do still need a tablet if you plan on using your phone with HIP for data collection? |

Dan,
Im not getting any younger and a phone is to small for me to read. I looked at a Acer 7" and 10.1" w/16 GB, no camera, no GPS, a Lenovo 7" w/16GB, but had 512 MB memory and which was to small, even sideways. I did however like the Samsung - Galaxy 10.1" 16GB with 2 -cameras 3.1 OS and touch screen, but no USB, or card slot. Im not sure but the sales person said that it worked with a stylus also and 14 hour battery life. But all said, I think I will look harder at the ACER, 32GB, duel Processer, camera, etc. for $499.00. |
