TOPIC: Photo resolution in finished report

Re: Photo resolution in finished report 13 years 6 months ago #41358

I've worked on thumbs a few times and there's been an issue where with most computers it takes a LONG time to draw all the photo previews and it really slows things down. Because of that I leave it off.

Yes, most people do take the front of the house shot first, even before switching to HIP.

You may be surprised to learn many do not.
I take them when doing the exterior and start my inspection in the kitchen
California is not always the same as elsewhere.
Often hands full of tools and busy saying Hello
Cover shots may be done first sometimes but not always.

When I do tutorials with guys live and explain batch adding photos (1 or 2 a day), I'd say 9 out of 10 guys take the front of the house as soon as they arrive as the first photo. You're right though, there are a lot of things different between states, but this is pretty universal.

I start work once the Inspection agreement is signed and not before as per state law so maybe you are right and guys are breaking SOP or standing in the rain to get a signature.:)

It would take a bit of legal gymnastics to have a client claim they signed their contract "under duress" just because the inspector took a photo of the front facade prior to giving them the contract. I think it's a stretch to say that's breaking the SOP for Illinois, but I suppose it's better to be safe than sorry.

Regardless, the icons in the photo insert window would be nice to have but I wouldn't want to wait too long for it. How long a wait are we talking about Dom? I know it's different on each system, but just generally speaking.

The front facade is the first photo I take after I review the contract with the client and leave them alone to sign it. I go get my tools unloaded and as I walk back, CLICK, done. I personally don't use a photo of the house on the front cover, I use my company logo and tag line, REAL BIG. Everyone on here says it over and over, “An HIP report is advertising/marketing for your business.” So I let the cover advertise me.

Dom is just giving me a hard time Cameron.
Cover shots and vid stills also remember, plus it might be nice to scroll through pics to use for illustration. But double opening a picture file is what I am used to and the browser would need to open up much larger for it to be useful anyway.

I am not at all concerned and only opening discussion.

People are either Hearing,Feeling ,or visual and Dom is less attuned to us visual thinkers and I can tell from your posts that you are not a visual either so I am preaching to the wrong choir here.
HIP is however setup on the premise of photo reports remember so all these drop down and peck at a tablet upgrades do absolutely nothing for me.Only improvements in photo edit have meaning to me.
The addition of thumbs in the comment section I never even look at as a side by side with a generated PDF with the pics is much easier to look at and larger.
So what is good for you mean nothing to me and visa versa.
