No beam or posts in this new construction (ranch style home) that I inspected this morning. First time I ever saw this before. Anyone have experience with this type of construction?
Thank you Have a great day! |

What were the approximate dimensions of this basement?

Conventional platform framing. The stud wall is the support system for the upper level. No need for posts or beams.

My guess is about 25 feet wide or so. I assumed this is acceptable but never saw it before.

25 feet wide supported by a wall down the middle making a 12.5' span. Same size as a typical bedroom.

I have to go back to pick up my radon unit so I will take a quick measure. I'm sure this is acceptable but it kind of surprised me. The 2x4s and headers must be cheaper than a beam and posts.
