For about 8 years I have used the Streamlight SL-20XP.  It is terrific, and I recharge it in my vehicle every night.  All it has needed is a new bulb, once.

It's a polymer that weighs nothing, nickel cad, 25,000 candles.  The quartz lamp is pre-focused and very bright.  It beats the heck out of my Mag-light on a side-by-side comparison.

The police around here use the one Stephen suggests.  They are terrific too, and small!  I was surprised when a cop client broke his out on and inspection and lit up the attic space!
