I think we will all agree that the HIP reports are the most proffessional lookig reports in the industry so why not use the reports as a marketing tool. I can tell you it works, i just wish i would have thought of this myself.
As part of my inspection service i provide the client with a bound hard copy of the inspection report as well as the e-mailed version. I use a 3 ring binder and insert the pages of the report into clear page protectors with the cover page of the report inserted into the clear cover of the binder.

I have been doing this myself. The first time buyers especially love this. I include a copy of the report, Ben Gromicko's home maintenance book, other safety info. (smokes, pools, paint, child safety, etc.) and "refer a friend" business cards. Takes a little time and costs about $10, but I think its very professional and shows not only your client, but realtors too, just how committed you are to them.

I do something similar, but I can't put a 45 page report into page protectors.

How do you present the report in the binder, print on site?

I give the client the binder sans report, and then show them the spot where it would go. I also give the book, articles, agreement and the warranty

I do the same as Drew as he stated.

I make it an option for my client if they want the report binder package. I used to spend to much time on the binder and now it is simplified and only takes 5 minutes to prepare.

Most clients like the binder package. The ones looking for a lower price or maybe a person that is organized or even a trades person may not need.

If a radon test or WDI inspections are added I include relevant material.
I have been meaning to add this to my website as not that many inspectors include a nice package and the perspective clients need to know, this may be the difference in booking an online client.

I guess I need to get to that, along with Craigslist, Facebook.  If only this darn backup would finish already. 3 hours and still not done.

I do the same with the binder with a NACHI home owners handbook. Clients love it as well as the agents. I drop mine of at the agents office within a day or two. It give me the change to meet other agents and leave fliers.

I want to understand. You drop off a binder with a clients report in it at the agents office.

Do you email a report to the clients when the inspection is done?

In NJ we are not permitted to give the report to anyone but the client without the clients permission. When I inspect in PA, there is a law that all interested parties can get a copy of the report. I would be pissed if the inspector dropped my report off at the office and didn't deliver to me first. I was wondering if that was the case.

When I go to an agents office, I make up a complete report binder with a sample in it for the office to keep. The agents do show clients what they will get from me.
