There is another item that adds time to your inspection, that is on site reports.  I use a 12" IBook and fill out the reports as I am inspecting but if you post many photos in the report it takes time to load and edit. Then printing out the report and taking the time to review the report with the client and buyers agent if present takes more time, but do they appreciate it. In Colorado Springs my average house is about 2500sf and with the above mentioned can take 3 to 4 hours depending on how many questions.

Make sure you're using Batch Add, it greatly decreases the time to add photos to the report.

I always felt uncomfortable when I did on site computer reports.

I thought the client, agents and whomever could make better use of there time then waiting anywhere from 30-60 minutes.

Personally, I hate having the client and their agent at the inspection, as they fire one question after another at you and prolong the inspection.  I always give them a time to show up and generally I'm done or almost done by then.

I also add my photos from a very small and dedicated USB card reader which I bought on ebay.  This way, the photos are available to me all the time and when I need them I simply pick out those I want to use and stick em in to the report, which takes just moments.

I tend to take loads of photos, all of which I transfer to my back up HD for legal protection should I ever need it.

Incidentally, I'm almost to the point with my website www.StateCertifiedHomeInspections.com and if any of you want to link with me here in sunny Phoenix, just give me a shout and I'll do my best to get it done (probably with more than a little guidance from Dominic ;)  He really is the greatest!).
