The only way I could get it to Canada reasonably is have it shipped to family in Texas (winter Texans) and have them bring it back into Canada.

How much would it be if you were to mail it?  Or is that not an option?  I had a book shipped here by a courier.  It cost quite a bit on duty.  A book supplier told me afterward to just have it mailed. 

International shipping can be pretty tricky.  We got set up with iShopUSA for international shipments.  When we first got started shipping internationally, the end user would get hit with all the taxes/duties/etc. when the unit arrived, and there was not really any good way to be able to help someone determine what they taxes and whatnot would be before it got there.  The nice thing about iShopUSA is that they calculate all the fees ahead of time, so that you know up front what you would be paying, to see if it is an option that you would like to take.  Usually, the best option when you have to get something shipped UPS is to choose one of the expedited services, because those include coverage for the customs fees.  Take a look at this link from UPS regarding shipments made to Canada:  www.ups.com/content/ca/en/shipping/cost/...stoms_clearance.html

As an example, I once sent one of the first Tablet PCs to a customer in Ontario via express service, and it was just shy of $80, and that included the fees.  Another customer had a Tablet of similar value sent via standard service, and after paying for shipping and all the taxes, they spent almost $120.  After shipping and taxes, getting something mailed can cost about the same as having it sent UPS express, depending on the value of the item.  It would be much cheaper for lower valued items to send them through the mail.  You have to love UPS and their border fee

I think everyone that uses HIP should get a free sample of the new 10" tablet...that sounds like a GREAT idea!  ;D
