TOPIC: Formatting report to go in binder

Re: Formatting report to go in binder 15 years 10 months ago #6402

A PDF prints as a PDF, there's no way for the borders to get cut off unless you've manipulated the margins within Acrobat. Make sure you haven't adjusted them (maybe when trying to print in a binder).

Are you running on Windows or on a Mac? The only time I've heard anyone having this issue was when Mac OS 10.5 was released. Their internal PDF program didn't work properly. Once the users installed Adobe Acrobat it worked fine.

The footer centering is a bug. Just use the space bar to center it for now. That's something I've been working on lately but I'm still having a problem with it. The footer is written to the report a little differently than the rest and it doesn't want to accept all html codes we use in the editor so I'm having to program around it.

Has anyone thought of a spiral binding?  If I need to print a report for presentation I take it to Staples for binding.  They have a few different options available; I use the coil binding.  It stays close to the edge (no adjustments required, gets a hard black plastic backing and a clear plastic cover--looks very professional.

This may be an option instead of three-hole and if you needed to tab the sections, it's easy to do yourself and the thicker tab material can be bound as well.

I produce most of my reports on site so that is why I use a binder.  I get them as a complete kit from the CertifiedNACHIstore.com or inspectorstuff.com.

That makes a big difference--unless you have a Mobile Staples Store too.  ;D

I can't imagine printing a report.  In this digital age, do many of you do printing?  And as far as the index page goes, if you are all digital, the way HIP creates bookmarks in acrobat is great.  The index is right there!

There's still guys that print. It seems very regional though whether guys do it or not. Some areas it's expected, some it's not. There's enough guys still asking for a physical index (had another request today) that it'll be an option shortly.
