I haven't taken the course yet but I've never heard one peep of negative about it.  Always hear praise from people.  From talking to others, they say its a great starting point for IR education.  I will probably take it when I can afford it.  Then move on to level 1, 2, and maybe 3 at some point.

I understand when you say being able to afford. I am in a similar position. I may have theoppertunity to do something for my business. That is why I'm seriously considering IR.

For what I want to do, the cost of the cam is $16,000.00. Plus training. If I want the better software, add another 2k.
Now there is the cost of training. In my head, I'm probably looking at 20k.

As far as training goes, I want at least level 1. I can't see spending a lesser amount for training, that is going to be redundant when I train for level 1.

As far as the whole picture, I believe that IR can open new doors. I don't want to spend a small fortune on equipment that is going to collect dust, and maybe bring me an extra $100 bucks of so, every now and then. I would rather spend that money on a Bobcat.

I hear ya, that is a lot of money.  From what I have found, the level 1 will teach you how to use the equip better and in more circumstances.  Its a more thorough but broader education.  Johns training is focused on building inspections with the IR.  And from what I can tell, building inspections are the more difficult types of inspections.

I sub out all my IR work so I haven't taken any IR classes.  I have read up a lot and taken the NACHI Green building course and with the combination of both our education NACHI gave me permission to use the IR Certified logo.

Do you see alot of IR calls?

When you sub it out, are you able to make a few bucks?

Hmmm, it's something to think about.

I don't push the IR stuff too much.  IR is still very new around here so nobody thinks about getting it done. I have made a page for it on my website and it seems to be at the top of Google.  And when I get inspection calls I always ask if this is something they might want.

As far as making money at it, yes I make enough to cover any expenses that may occur and my time.  I cant really get into actual numbers on here but I will tell you I wont get rich at it this way, but it allows me to get my foot in the IR door before it get really big here.

Oh and I guess I'll link you right now.  Totaly forgot about that.  Sorry :D
