I know...$10/lead seems pretty steep...what I'm seeing right now is that people have to be price shopping.  I get more hits on my "Service Area & Pricing" page than any other, but no one is following through.  Wondering if I should change my page and include pricing, or even a starting price...or if that would just encourage them to still not call!

You should have a starting price and that's it. Give the reasons to call for a quote (square footage, distance, age of home, etc).

I did a search for inspectors on the site Drew. It came up with 3 inspectors in my area. Two of them are NOT licensed as required by the State of Illinois. It is illegal in Illinois to perform home inspections without a license.

I understand that he has a service for wind mitigation leads and he bought a mailing list database. How all of this ties together I don't know. I dida search for inspectors in my area and I came up first, but two other non-members came up also. When I asked him about it, he said that as more area members join, the non-members will be weeded out. There's a lot of questions, so I am going to let him work out the issues. There's no contract and or obligations, so WTH. What's to lose? I just wouldn't expect anything until the summer.

I question the billing. How would I know how many leads I get and how would I know it is accurate? Is the lead when my name shows up? So if my name shows on the list I pay, even if the client never calls me? I a not sure I like that system, unless I have it wrong.

Mike, I believe the leads are sent to you, like e-mail or text or some other form, and you get billed for leads sent to you, not just what pops up  in a search. I think.

The customer calls a central phone number, gives them all the information about what they want. The computer sends out a text message and an email to you with the lead. The lead is based on a keyword match in your profile such as, home insp., radon test, termite, ect. You then have to contact the customer. If you neglect to call, or drag your feet, you still need to buy the lead anyway.

Service Magic sends an email and calls you. The phone call will directly connect you with the customer. If you elect not to do this, you will probably lose the lead. They send out three calls and the first one to reply usually gets the job. I have only had one occasion where the client waited to hear from everyone. I have been getting some work from them. I get about 1 lead a week. I book about 75% of the leads I get. If you go with service Magic, there are ways to set up your account to almost "trick" the computer into sending you leads. I haven't figure out how to be the first on the list with the computer yet though.

Every lead generator has a website with a "dashboard" where you can view your account, dispute leads, check your lead status, ect.

Casey, I didn't start getting work off my site until I changed my homepage. I was getting nothing from my site until I made the front page a little arrogant. I put in my mission statement "I perform south jersey's best home inspection and I can prove it!" Then I added a few bulletted reasons why I think I'm great ;D and when that hit page one I was getting calls. I actually raised my prices across the board by $25.
