TOPIC: One of my four mock inspections

One of my four mock inspections 15 years 4 months ago #16339

Hi folks!
This is my first post here and what better way to introduce myself than to show you what I've done with HIP so far.
This is one of my four Mock Inspections needed to be done for NACHI, it is fairly short, the home was in great shape however there were plenty of details to note.
I'm looking for any advice on corrections or additions that I may not have been aware of, please be brutally honest, constructive criticism is what I need!
Thanks
John Dalton

Looks very nice John. Just out of curiousity, why was the roof  inspected from the ground and not the roof at this time of year? Safety isssue, or something else?

Hey John,

Welcome to the message boards! Glad to see you sharing your report. It's definitely a great way to improve your reporting.

Do you have a company logo yet? You definitely want to include that on your cover page along with your website address.

I guess it's time to add a feature to frame images. It's been on our to-do list for awhile. Looks like you did all yours manually and it looks great!

Under Interior Area smoke detectors why did you include the comment: **SMOKE DETECTORS** ? It's in the title.

For Interior Area window you checked 'None' but took a picture of a window and comments on it. You also said N/A.  Did you mean to put this picture in the bedroom?

If you're going to use the single bedroom section method (rather than a section for each bedroom), make sure to number all 3 so that you can direct your comments to the correct bedroom: Master#1 • Upstairs North East • Upstairs South East#2

Note the model and age of the water heater. Let the client know if it's near the end of it's expected life expectancy. If it is note that it could last 5 years or go soon.

Overall, a VERY good looking report. I'm sure the other guys can give you some more specific comments!

This was a friends house, I was there to install an outside lighting fixture and just took the opportunity to make a "Mock" inspection out of it, one of four required for NACHI membership. The ladder I had was too short to get on the roof.

Hey John,

Yes, after I posted this, I noticed that.  The window is in the bedroom.

If you're going to use the single bedroom section method (rather than a section for each bedroom), make sure to number all 3 so that you can direct your comments to the correct bedroom: Master#1 • Upstairs North East • Upstairs South East#2
Is there a template with a tab for each bedroom?

John

1. Cabinets
Good Fair Poor N/A None
X
Observations:
• No deficiencies observed.
• No deficiencies observed on all kitchen cabinets.
• Appeared functional and in satisfactory condition, at time of inspection.

I would use one of the three observations. All three state there are no deficiencies.

On components like soap dish/hot water dispenser and other items that are not present I would not select and use the options feature in HIP as these would not show up on the report.

I would make Ceilings and Walls one section.

Why do you have a picture of the water heater and furnace titled under walls in garage?

I did not see a page explaining your report ratings.

I personally do not like Good/Fair/Poor.

Nice job overall.
