I am setting up a template to use numbering because I think that the quickest way to caption my photos will be to say "Item number 1.1" for example. Does any one else do this? If so, how? My first thought was to set up captions that are "Item number 1.1", "Item number 1.2", "Item number 1.3", etc. all the way through each separate section, but how does the program actually number items? It looks like it goes by Tabs, not Sections with 1 being the first Tab in the Section and then starting off with 1 at the first Tab of the next Section. Is that correct? What if you don't print a section or tab, what do the numbers do then? I am thinking that my first way of thinking isn't going to work. So any tips would be appreciated.

That's what I do Travis, and would also like to know. I think this was asked before and I don't believe there is a short cut

It goes by the damage and selection panels. If you don't comment on something and you have it sent not to print then that item wouldn't be counted.
I'm curious, why are you numbering all your captions like that? Wouldn't using the pre-captioning feature to give more details be more effective for clients reading them? |

I don't currently do my captions that way Dom. I do use pre captions to an extent, but always seem to have to write new ones. To me it seems easier to read to have the narrative numbered, and then say what number narrative the photo goes with. I'm just not sure how I know what number the narrative will be so not sure how to put captions. I would like to save a caption with the narrative number already in place. I've never done it this way, so I was curious how other guys do it. I think if I could save Captions as "Item number 1", "Item number2", etc, then it would be easy, but if I don't choose to number the sections them selves, each narrative starts with .1, .2, .3, etc. I don't like the look of that, so I am kind of stuck with 1.1, 2.1, 3.1, etc. That makes it harder to me. Hope I'm not being too confusing.

I feel like I put plenty of detail into my narratives, so captions only show the defect or location. I think captioning that way would be more effective, easier to read, and faster for me to finish reports.

Travis, you have explained it well, so I will not comment further except to say, I just want to put a number with the photo A-1,A-2 that corresponds with the narrative.
