TOPIC: VIDEO ISSUES

VIDEO ISSUES 9 years 8 months ago #60759

Hello,  I am finding that the videos I had in a previous report are showing up under pictures in a different report.  I just started using the video capability and it's great.  However, after I generated the first report of the day I went on to the 2nd.  In the 2nd report, I was editing photos and there were a few that the "edit" button was dark and not "clickable" so I couldn't edit those pictures.  When I click on those pictures (where the edit button is dark) the video from the first report popped up and started playing.  I had to delete those pictures from the 2nd report so the unrelated video didn't play if someone clicked on it in the PDF.  I closed out, restarted, re-sent, everything I could think of but it was still the same result.  I tried a 3rd report and it also showed the videos from the previous report behind an uneditable photo.  What am I doing wrong?  Thanks!

Hi Scott,

Did you make sure to close HIP in between working on inspections? It shouldn't be possible for them to persist between HIP instances. If you're just opening the template after having one inspection open the pics and video would save. Either way, give the office a call a little later today and ask for Dan so he can go through it with you and make sure there's not an actual issue here. He can document it easier so I can get it fixed if there is. Make sure you're running HIP 4.2 or later as well as we made quite a few changes to video in the last few updates.

I am using 4.2.1 on my desktop.  Do I need to close HIP between reports on the desktop?  No, I don't do that.  Also, I don't close the mobile app either - I just open another inspection.  I create all my inspections for the day first thing in the morning so I don't waste time filling in all of the client info for each one.  I just open the inspection and go.  I can't call Dan today, I have late appointments.  Maybe next week though - I'm swamped.  I will try closing the mobile app each time I finish an inspection or else I'll just avoid using the videos for now.  But I do really like using them - no one in my area is using video yet!  Thanks for the quick response.

It's best to close out. All the pics & video eat up a lot of memory and closing out HIP allows HIP to speed up. We also have sections like pics that purposely persist when opening templates.

You don't need to close the mobile app out, it's just the desktop version.

Good morning!  I closed out after each inspection report was generated and the issue was still there.  I pull them from the cloud at the same time (no closing out in between) the videos it puts behind the pics are from the report I generated directly before it so its not like its keeping the same video and over and over.  Does the mobile app automatically update?  Maybe i should remove it and reinstall?  Thanks!

Is the video showing in the PDF file or just in HIP while working on the report?

Go ahead and call in when you have a chance talk to Dan. I'd really like him to document exactly what's happening as that'll make it super easy to fix. I can't replicate it on my end so the fact that you can is a huge help.
