Also... what Res pics are you starting with? A 3MP pic will never compare to a 12MP pic. Also, reducing a 12MP to 5MP, and later trying to increase it back to 8MP simply will not work. You cannot regain what you have removed. You would need to return to the original raw photo.

Hey guys, The files I'm working with are all between 7 & 8 MP. I attempted what you suggested Dominic and switched from 2 images to 3 images across before I imported my images. when I generated the report the images do appear crisper, however the image is smaller because its allowing for 3 images not 2 (I'm only dropping 2 images below each section). I would really like the quality of these images but with the size the same as if it were only 2 across.
Hope this makes sense. |

Then keep it at 2 images across and quality to 3.
What screen size and resolution are you using by the way? |

Y'all need to try using a smaller photo size. For home inspector work we do not need huge megapixel photos. I use the lowest setting on my camera which is an email setting on Nikon and PC setting on some others. All of my photos are in the 100kb to 200kb range. They are more than large enough for the report and the smaller file size makes them easy to work with.
The only time I might increase the size of the file would be during litigation work where my photos might need to be enlarged for court work. Keep in mind that when folks view your report on their computers they will see very little difference between a 200kb photo and a 2mb photo, other than the size. And unless they have very high end professional printers it will not matter one bit. |

Even a high end photo printer won't show the different. The quality HIP uses is so that the PDF can be viewed at 300% and be sharp. That's good enough on my 30 inch monitor. Printers are printing what the PDF looks like at 100% which is MUCH smaller.

I didn't think I had changed the number of images across, apparently I did. It's all good now.2 larger images and a little better quality.
Thanks |
