Thanks, I think I got it on my hard drive. I will definitively check out carbonite. I have an older version of HIP and also a newer version in the file folder. There is only one data folder. When I open the old HIP program my template is perfect. When I open the HIP3 my template name is there, but it opens a blank menu. I would like to get it on the newer one HIP3. Any thoughts?

You need to get with HIP customer service to walk you through what needs to be done. One of your problems is trying to work on multiple versions.

I see no reason to save old versions.
That is what's screwing you up. I use Carbonite as well however if this computer crashes would much rather download from a aux HD as Carbonite can be slow or sometimes skips files here and there. My initial backup took 2 months. Have had it a few years now. Would also recommend Dropbox,Google Gears,Evernote, etc for faster copy up and downloads. |

Agree with Scott. Get with HIP Support for, well... support. My understanding is that newer versions/updates should be installed on top of older versions. Deleting an older version will cause Data Loss! DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING until you have save a backup of everything, and someone knowledgable walks you through the process!

Bob, Carbonite does not save all file types by default. The files you mentioned that didnt get saved, are you sure they are/were earmarked for backup? If I recall, the HIP .tpz files need to be manually earmarked. Simply right-click and select Carbonite to set-up the files you want backed-up. Once they are, no problemo'!

Carbonite saves the data files but not the program files. Which is fine as long as you have the program to reload then download the date into it.
I have Caronite as well. |
