I am a bit ahead of myself, but that's just me...I'm evaluating HIP and have just about finished with my template. I am not used to using a tablet or mobile device in the field. However, it seems that many inspectors see an advantage to collecting data and comments in the field. So I am going to start and see how it goes. I have an iPad. I also have an opportunity to exchange it for a mini. Does anyone have any experience with either and would like to offer their opinions or comments? I like the larger screen/keyboard on the iPad, but the smaller size/weight if the mini makes me think it would be easier to carry around.....comments?

Go for the mini. The smaller width makes it easier to type with two hands while walking around. Remember, that's the goal, not to put it down. Try typing on your iPad as you walk around. It definitely works, just not 'quite' as well.

Is there some way to move client files off the iPad or mini? They don't have anything like a file manager...

You upload via HIP Mobile to the cloud, then download to the desktop, Windows or Mac.

I have been using the Mini for about two weeks. The size is perfect...and it fits in my cargo pants pocket. Each inspection gets easier and better. I'm happy with the mini!
