Bob, It is said that if you "root" your Android phone, you can then tether by WiFi or USB and access the net without having to pay the outrageous fees the mobile providers charge. Just sayin.....
I'm actually considering that now.  Just got a new droid bionic.

Dana if I was wanting to send or print on site I would root the phone or I would pay a provider .
For me they get reports in 24 hours.

Ever since the phones turned into computers the last year or two my laptop and netbooks stay home and pretty much only get used on vacation.

Heck everything on my desktop can be viewed on the phone anyway since I paid $59 for Carbonite which is $5@ month.

Bob, same here.  Never print on site. I think that is a disaster waiting to happen. Too easy to miss something in the rush.
I rarely even take my tablet out at inspections anymore. I just inspect, take lots of pics and then build the report back in the office on the desktop with two 22 inch monitors so I can have the pics open on one and the report on the other.

Just got a new Droid Bionic after running an original Droid for about 2-1/2 years.  HUGE difference with dual core processor and 4G.
It truly is a mini-tablet now.  Full access to anything. Quite impressive. :o

Dana, already in the works (iPhone/iPad)

Yes, what Bob said. The program is designed to collect data, sync to laptop/desktop and finish the inspection on site.
