From now on HIP 3.x will include a copy of Java (not just an installer like before). This way we can control what version of Java the program uses. Over the years there's been a few times like this when Java had a bug for a few days to a few months and we'd have to program a work around and guys that didn't update would have issues. This will make the installers/updates a bit larger but will give us complete control over these sort of issues!

So when my computer states a new Java update is available should I run it?

I am using the newest HIP version.

Losing 6 hours of work sucks.

I lost about 30 minutes yesterday as when I was in the edit image, add text the window was behind and I thought the program froze up.

Happened again on the 2nd report but I figured out my mistake.

Updating Java doesn't matter anymore if you're using HIP 3.0.3 or beyond. Run it if you want.

Did the program actually freeze up or you just couldn't see the add text window? Let me know so I can correct the issue.
