Just noticed today that when I save a template or create a new template, none of the inspection categories are saved. Like bathroom, kitchen, outside etc. Any ideas? I have not updated the software recently or made any computer changes. If I use an old template all is fine. If I save the template and pull it up, the inspection areas are missing. Any help would be appriciated.

Hi John,
Go to your control panel, add/remove programs and see if you have Java 7 installed. If so, uninstall it asap as there's a bug in it. You can get the latest Java 1.6.x from Java.com. Java 7 isn't supposed to be public yet but I've still seen a few people with it. |

Thanks. I did have 7. Uninstalled it and reinstalled 1.6.29 and it works.

Okay, great. We have a work around for the Java bug in the upcoming HIP 3.0.

I just lost 6 hrs of work and a template due to Java7 update. Java updated to 7, when I saved the inspection I had no categories in my template and all of my work was gone when I tried to reopen. I wish we had some warning system on bugs like that. Is there any way to recover anything or do I start over. The client info stayed in and the inspection was saved, but no categs.

Hi Frank,
Did Java 7 update while you were working on the inspection? It should have basically opened up to a blank template to start with. If you saved as you went along and use Vista or Windows 7 you should be able to right click on the file in Windows and click previous versions to restore earlier versions of the file. As far as the template goes you can just open up your last job and then click save template to recover your template. How did you end up with Java 7 installed? It's not available to the public yet on Java.com. |
