I would like to have my template set up for room by room and the finished report be done system by system.
Lets take GFCI for example. In my room by room GFCI is at the all the required locations, so about 8 areas. If a tab was made in the section that is inspected, like exterior. I would like to see a feature that could select the text to the electrical GFCI section. This way there is only one panel for GFCI and not 8 like I have. This would work great for sinks, faucets, DWV. Same with walls, ceilings, floors, windows. Why have windows in each room when it could all be in one panel. This way all the electric is in one area that is convient for agent, clients and the contractor making the repairs. The Macy Merge is working great and this would be a nice feature for me. |

Dave if you wish to have it set up in the end system by system then why not do it that way from the outset?
You have the drop downs to indicate location if you so wish. That being said I feel you on selections sometimes being confusing and as example there are choices to be made at times. You could put garage roof under garage or under roof(s), balcony doors could go under (exterior doors),(Balcony),Attic under Structure or under roof (lol). |

I'm confused. Why not just set your report that way. Using your example of GFI's.
1 tab in Electrical. Areas are inspected in whatever order your protocols call for. When you do the Electrical System / GFI tab your choice is: GFCI receptacles were noted in the kitchen, bathrooms, garage and exterior. All responded properly to testing at time of inspection. One statement for the whole house. Same for bathroom faucets. Regardless of how many bathrooms there are, faucets are faucets. It is much easier to have a single statement that "All bathroom faucets functioned properly with no defects noted at time of inspection". I have this statement as well as another. The other says, "All bathroom faucets functioned properly at time of inspection unless specifically noted below". Then you add your defect statement on the specific problems. The same can be said for just about everything that has multiple items in the home. Doors and their hardware, windows, walls, ceilings, etc. Either all of the items are satisfactory or you note they all are except for..... Those that have a window section for each room or electrical in each room.... Sure adds to the report time especially when they are all in working condition. Of course I don't use the rating buttons. It doesn't take much longer to check a commentary than it does to check the ratings box. |

There is nothing sweeter than the smell of fresh cut grass on a baseball infield, the click of a wooden bat and the taste of a hot dog at a warm sunny daytime double-header.

Stephen you make sense.
That being said I use a hybrid report with Bath and kitchen separate. Easier to understand for the client and not a full complicated room by room. Experimentation with templates never hurts. 3.0 should be out soon. |

I do have my template set up as both, system by system and room by room.
Worked great today on an 11 year old house. Tomorrows 75 year old home will be a good test. Room by room I report for that specific area. System by system all comments go to that specific area. Just looking for ways to improve the program. Domnic understood when I emailed him. Would take lots of reprogramming and I understood what he told me. |

Dave you are old hat at this as well as myself.
I still take 3 hours solid for a report. 3.0 should be interesting if it lives up to hype. |
