Im new to the HIP form (as an active user). Ive used 3D Software since 2004. Im really interested in those who switched from 3D to HIP. What FIRST sparked my interest in HIP was that out of the box it had a layout very similar to what I created with 3D. As years progessed 3D has become bloated. Unfortunately Im forced using XP computers; my version of 3D WILL NOT operate on Windows 7. Dominic just seems to be so on top of things which is really attractive. But its like switching wives...just because the neigbhor is really pretty...there are still ramifications.

LOL. Welcome to the forum Dan Yes, we've had quite a few guys switching over the past 6 months. If you need the library converter (I can't remember if I sent it to you already), just let me know and I'll hook you up! Dana Bostick posts on here quite a bit and is one of many other inspectors who have switched and can help give you a comparison.

Thanks Dominic! Actually, you did send me the 3D converter file. I haven't yet had the chance to sit down and try it...but I'm looking forward to doing it soon! ;D

Dominic, I tried out your 3D Inspection converter last night. Im impressed! I have close to 4000 lines of text that I have typed, and they look like they made it over. You need to adversize this! Granted, there are changes I still wish to look at; like how I will incorporate "Heading" and "Subheading" that I used from 3D into the HIP format. When I can sit down longer, I will be able to play more.

Hi Dan,
I glad it moved it all over properly! I've had a few issues from people who had started with really old versions of 3D but it looks like most of that has been worked out. We basically call heading/subheading as Section/Item. You can create intros under Edit Documents. Let us know if you have any questions as you move along. In the meantime, just take your time and explore! |
