Hey Dominic! I have ver 8.0 of 3D. People when converting old version of 3D need to point to the "Programs". Ver 11 they point to "Documents"
Yes..."Sections" are like "Headings"; "Panels" are "Subheadings"; and "Items" are "Menus" If People created something similar to what I have below in 3D using Heading and Subheading: DRIVEWAY Type: Condition: Sidewalk Type: Condition: HIP converter will merge both "Type" subheadings and both "Conditions" and you may think information is missing, but it's really there! Easiest work around is to go into "Custom Form Studio" and rename "Type" to "Driveway Type" and "Sidewalk Type". You will then end up with individual panels on HIP. It helps doing some of the manipulation on the Custom Form Studio side. I have (2) other task to work on..... 1st - "Headings" I've created like DRIVEWAY could really be done with one Section choosing (1)Damage(1)Selection Panel. I need to figure the simplest way of merging certain subheading into a Damage/Selection panel combination 2nd...the best way of handling "Heading" I created with multiple "Subheading"... IE.. ROOF Type: Condition: Caulking: Earth/Wood: If I'm not clear (which is very possible...lol) you get a brief idea what I'm referring to viewing my sample report on my website. |

Looks like you've quickly gotten a good grasp on the program!
For your first item, yes using 1 Damage & 1 Selection panel is the best way to go. Since there was little way to detect the separation of the two in 3D they do get merged in places. Go ahead and go to Edit Template and create a new 1DP/1SP tab with exactly what you want. Then use Copy/Paste (don't use cut is it's a bit flaky) to move the comments from the old to the new. Then delete the old tab. For the second item your Section would be Roof then you'd just have multiple Selection/Damage Panels on different tabs for each of your subheadings. Most of that should have been brought over already. You'd have a Roof Type & Condition selection & damage panel. Then the others could be within the Roof observation panel or a new tab, that's up to you. Look at some of the reports guys have uploaded on the forum here to find the method you like the best. |

Thanks for the tip Dominic...My Subheadings transfer over to a single Damage Panel. Fortunately I can take my time and create a layout using your Damage and Selection Panels that will flow similar to what I currently use. Plus...this is more enjoyable than writing in Fortan to compute trigonometric functions. Giving credit to Serge...his form caught my attention as an excellent flowing layout which represented a style similar to what I'm using.

Ahh yes, Fortran hell!! LOL
Remember that you can download Serge's template and just modify it to your liking and copy your comments over as well by opening up two copies of HIP side by side. Until you start doing inspections with HIP I suggest clicking Save Inspection and name the file with the date. This will actually backup your template too in case you make any mistakes. Once you start doing inspections every job has the template in it anyways. |

That is one SWEET feature being able to have HIP open twice to copy/paste!
