I try to skip a few versions, but Dragon 9 versus 11 bears no resemblance to one another!

The microphone that you use is critical, depending on where you dictate.

As for using Dragon with HIP narratives, I save generic text which is applicable to every house with the same situation.

You click on the narrative, move it to black/red. Double-click and edit the box verbally for the particular conditions of that house. Direct dictation into this narrative box is quick and accurate.

This brings a good balance between both worlds and speeds up the process is fast as it needs to be (even know it may take four hours)!

As for dictating directly into HIP, you'll find in many cases that the DragonPad (like WordPad) in the program will operate faster and more accurately. Cut and paste does not take that much longer when both Windows are open together.

I install "narratives" in photograph "captions". If you don't dictate somewhere else and copy it, you can only see a very small percentage of what you said in the dictation box of HIP.

Mouse in your right hand, keyboard in your left hand:

Ctrl - A  selects all text
Ctrl - X cuts selected text
Ctrl - C copies selected text
Ctrl - V pastes selected text

Just tried the latest version of Dragon and it will not work with HIP.  It seems that someone used Dragon at one of Dom's seminars and it went into self destruct.  It was able to handle it for a short time but after 16 hours of incessant SEO tips, it self-wrote new code that recognizes Dom speak and is embedded to the newest versions of Dragon. It then committed suicide.  Looks like it is back to Mavis Beacon learn to type software......  ;D

LOL. It works fine, but the guys have said there's some setting you have to use. I think it's a box the text goes into before HIP. David would know for sure.

I have no idea what's causing the problem. I do have times when I leave Dragon NaturallySpeaking running for several days at a time and when I open home Inspector Pro it won't dictate directly into the program.

Rebooting DNS clears up the situation for me.

I mostly dictate into the Dragon notepad and copy it to HIP. It runs a little bit faster and is slightly more accurate when I'm running five or six programs simultaneously.

There is a "dictation box" (what I think Dominick is talking about) in DNS that you can transfer to another program where your cursor resides, but that doesn't work for me if I am dictating into a red or black comment. The two dictation boxes don't seem to want to open at the same time. Other than that everything seems to work fine for me.

I use Dragon 10 extensively.  It's primary function is to build templates and comment libraries.  I really do not use it for building actual reports.  The work should all be done well before you create a report.

I spend much  more time working over the pictures that will go in the report prior to actually starting the report. They get re-sized, optimized and annotated before they ever make it to the report.
