TOPIC: Dragon Speech Recognition

Re: Dragon Speech Recognition 12 years 8 months ago #47412

What version of Dragon is it? What if you dictate directly into Dragon and then copy/paste? Can you dictate into narratives okay?

"How much ram do you have?"

Processor and RAM is the deal.

"Do you place more text in the pictures & less in the description area?"

you can go either way, but as far as the narrative part of the reporting goes, I dictate mostly in the description area and just caption the caption areas.

My state requires that you annotate an issue as:

Requires repair:
Requires subsequent Observation:
or Warrants further investigation:

I load my pictures to HIP, assign them to their appropriate sections, select one of the above from "lists" (to red -black) and dictate about every photo in that report section (right of red - black).

In the report I end up with a page of dictation followed by the pictures after it, that has mostly identification info in the caption.

Doing it the other way has pictures scattered all over the place, but the caption is right next to the pic, which is nice too.

All depends how much you talk to your computer! ;-)

Also, you can't put captions under red-black so if you want it in the summery, you have to copy or dictate again in the red section.

Dragon Version 2.0 for Macintosh. My processor is a 2.2 gig Intel core duo and I have two gigs of memory.
I attempted to dictate into the narratives section as well, it did type into the narrative section but after I closed the box the program locked up.
I was able to copy and paste from Notepad into the damage panel however, when I tried to copy and paste into the photos section it locked up again.
I am able to to dictate into this browser window and it works just fine.

Greg, I don't know what to suggest here. If this is a laptop (Macbook/Mac Air) I'd suggest taking it in to the Apple store so they can do a bench test and see if your maxing out in memory still. 4 gigs of ram might do you better. I know there's lots of guys that do use it and haven't had any problems.

You also might want to upgrade to Dragon 2.5. Do you have Dragon dicate, home or professional?

Not sure if Dom remembers however way back "when" I used Dragon on my 1GB Laptop.Made a commitment to typing once I realized My need for Pandora during reports made dictation difficult.

LOL. I do remember all those attempts to get dragon working on a really slow machine you had.
