TOPIC: Android Tablet

Questions for when HIP is ready for Android.

Since there are numerous Android tablets on the market. What kind of memory will a tablet need to run HIP?
Also if I were to use and Android tablet for collection on site will it be compatible with my windows program at home?
Or I am better off getting a Windows based tablet?

I am sure I will have more questions, but I just cant think of them right now. 

Id say half gig of ram or more. The Samsung Galaxy tab is what I have been showing off to people at conferences. Yes it will sync with the desktop app on Mac or Windows.

Hi Dominic....If I understand correctly, the biggest drawback to Ipad over Android(ie; Galaxy) is handwriting recognition & camera quality? ...and when you say "handwriting recognition, do you mean being able to input comments directly into HIP similar to Tablet XP?

The reason I ask is because I have gotten away from creating comments in the field as it is.  I go home and create it with the wording I like, and that way its there the next time I run across the same situation.  I will either scribble a digital note, or take a pic while on the inspection.

I wont be in the market for a tablet/ or Android/Ihpone till the summer anyways when my contract is up.  Just thinking ahead.

Yes, those are the two biggest things. The iPad's 1 megapixel camera is useless. It's only meant for video conferencing, not photos. The iPhone and all Android phones & tablets have MUCH better cameras. That might change with the iPad 3 as 'secret released specs' show a much better camera.

I am glad to hear that the demo is going well for you. I am ready and willing to use it when you release. I have my tablet ready to go. ?, are you going to have a app that we can download directly like the android market place programs. Or are we going to have to down load it to our sd cards? Thanks
