It is very easy to change the template especially if you are transferring data from one computer to another. What I would like to see is a lock that can be placed on a template so it can not be changed unless you remove the lock for that specific template.  It is so easy to hit Save Template on one computer but then you won't have it on the other computer unless you move it over to that computer for the next inspection.  If the template was locked so it could not be changed easily then you could change the report as needed without the worry of accidentally saving the report.

Scott, what kinds of things are you changing that you don't want to affect your template?

What I have had a problem with is if I inadvertently save a comment that I might want for that specific report and then I end up changing the template not meaning to do so. ? I know this is more operator error but is so easy to make a change on the fly which is great, but sometimes I might not want to change the entire template. ? Is this as clear as mud? ?  ? 

I could also see it an issue for anyone that might have multiple inspectors and they make a change unknowingly to the owner or the office.

Okay, so this might come down to how HIP is meant to work. If you change a comment on the left side of the red/black it saves in the template. If you move the comment to red/black and then change it, it will change only for that inspection. That way you can Save Template on every inspection without ever having an issue. Basically never edit the left unless you want it to be a permanent comment. This is one thing that other software programs don't have (ability for one time use comments) so I'm not sure if you knew that's how it works. If so, let me know.

So if I change a comment on the left does it save to the the template automatically?  I though I had to do Save>Template to make a left change permanent.  Not sure if it addresses the question, but the problem I have is keeping the template versions on my iMac and CTL2go the same.

Yea, I understand about the Left and Right side and saving the comments..  I kind of had the same problem as Frank did and I thought it might help to keep the templates the same if it could be locked, but you could still make a change to the verbiage.  Anyway, not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.. I don't want to slow down the iPad progress!
