Hey Kevin,
Slow down, lol!! HIP 4 was JUST released with a ton of new features but no one said it had everything. We already have guys testing video conversion on mobile, it's just not public yet. There's thousands of different devices and we're making sure it works smoothly on as many devices possible.. It will be public shortly. Cloud is required because many devices do not allow direct data transfer via a cable. We have to convert the data in the cloud, it won't work on mobile, there's just way too much processing of data involved for a mobile processor. If we could get rid of it, we would. We spend thousands a month to Amazon and other server companies for the cloud. It sure the heck isn't cheap. If you have a huge problem with the $20/mo, you can use a Windows tablet on site. |

You're missing my point.. First I don't care about a lousy twenty bucks I'm talking about having the feature of downloading the complete file from the mobile device to the pc and it's pc based HIP software and the conversion is performed at the pc windows based software. The windows based main program has all the room in the world for you to implement this conversion feature on the main pc. NOT in the mobile version. I simply want to download the file from the mobile device to the office pc without the cloud. I'm not sure what device such as a camera, phone that is not able to transfer data with a commonly supplied usb cable you are referring to ? It's just a pain in the butt to now have to search files for video clips edit them to the proper size and slot them according to the proper category in the report template... I thought the focus was on creating an expedient report ? I don't want to use a windows tablet onsite, I use real cameras for my pics and videos. |

As I mentioned above, video is already being tested in the latest beta. This feature has been available a few weeks in HIP 4 (which we haven't even announced to all our users yet).
No iPhone/iPads allow direct data transfer via a cable. There's a few Android devices with the same issue. We have created the iOS/Android software to be near identical. We're not going to create multiple versions of the software on mobile and desktop depending on what type of features that device has. That would be a nightmare for support and cost more than twice as much to develop. |

If it's been available for a few weeks then why don't I have it ?
I just paid $250 for the upgrade . |

I think you're misreading what I wrote. HIP 4 has only been out a few weeks. The video in mobile feature has only been available to select beta testers.

Fair enough.
Can you elaborate on what we can expect ? Can we hope to initiate the video filming feature in each category as we normally would as we initiate a photo and have it slot into the proper category ? I'm sitting here now killing my day inserting a few videos from the past 2 inspections into the report on my pc. my samsung ek gc100 android camera froze up with the new software yesterday 5 times and stated it was saving and at 30% every time .. I had to completely reboot the camera finally giving up on it and switched to camera only and took pics , now slotting them into the half finished report from mobile. we have freezing issues....Locked up |
