I do not generate a PDF until the report is near completion and then only to proof it and make any needed changes.

I don't see any advantage to it.

Maybe you could explain.

Guess I should as I keep forgetting not everyone here knows how to do it.

Just place all your pictures in categories to start the report then hit generate report.
You can then place the PDF with pictures already ordered by category side by side with the report as you type or click it.
The advantage is you can place the pictures anywhere you wish and any size you wish.
In this case I put the pictures on the left side  as tracing your eye field from left to right is more natural.
When you look through a list to select a comment you are looking at the beginning of the sentence which would be on the left side .

Need to play with this some more but I might have up to 8 pictures in one section and the thumbs might get awfully small this new way.
This is just a Beta so maybe it is not to late to change but discussion is good and I may be the only one who feels this way or maybe others think like me.

I imagine this will be great for guys who do not get (understand) the PDF option yet.

Opening a separate PDF allows control of picture size and this does not.

If you generate a PDF and expand the pic you get a grainy photos to work with as HIPro resizes it.

If I want a separate Photo window I use Widows explorer and click to open the pic in irfan for a detailed view.

Maybe not .
I use the photos to write my report and slotting them ahead of time is basically allowing me to see my notes for report writing.
My reports are done at home and I have no need to click ,write ,or type anything on a tablet while on site as glamorous as it sounds because it is far to time consuming in the field and distracting to my clients.
Mike if your pictures look blurry when you generate them as a report the issue is either your camera or your photo taking method.
The PDF picture is what your client will see so will it not be blurry for them in the report also?

To be honest I leave my picture file open so I can view video or zoom in on a detail such as a serial number but that is only a couple times in a report.
When doing my report the other day I actually logged how much time I spent on every aspect of the report and was surprised to find creating captions takes up a major part of the time.

The actual report writing take less than half the time the picture work does.

Okay, a few things!!

1. I'm glad you guys are liking the new features!
2. Note how I mentioned there are THREE methods for the photo slideshow (as someone mentioned, look under Report Settings->Options->Picture Editing. I set it up this way because
 a) Off might be necessary for guys doing 1000+ photos as it does increase memory usage a bit.
 b) Right of Red/Black is great for LARGE screens, at least 15" as it shows comments and pictures at the same time.
 c) Swap with Red Black DOES NOT take up extra space!! It adds a button under "Red >>>" "Black >>>" called "Show Pictures"! When you click the button it toggles the black/red lists on the right to show photos, click again to go back.

More advanced features with the slideshow will be coming. I've planned to allow you to add captions or edit here, allowing the picture book feature that Bob loves. Slotting photos will ALWAYS take place under Batch Add as this is by far the quickest way.

I will let the pictures explain why I prefer the PDF method.
Note I can change the picture thumb size to suit me while in the beta you can not.
Mike explain how my PDF pictures are blurry and the new thumbs are easier to see.?
