TOPIC: New Website...I think I'm getting there!

Could they just keep the URL get rid of the old site and start a new site through you and still keep the rankings?  Or would Google look at that as a whole new site and start over from scratch?

That is what I will probably end up doing, keep the old domain name and switch it over to here and rebuild it. For now I thought it would be best to keep the old one as is, where it is, and work on a whole new site all together, see how all this stuff works, then get the older established domain names going with better SEO rankings. I was concerned about the time to get rebuild a new site on here, thus being without a website all together....the old crapy website is better than no website at all....I think

The old domain name, which we were trying to get away from, I just realized yesterday actually shows up on the first page of google if you search for "home inspection services indianapolis", but not home inspector indianapolis or home inspections indianapolis, although it is still ranked higher than the newer gsinspect domain, probably because the other has been around since the beginning of the internet. So I need to think of what to do with that one since it is really the old name, and i thought we would probably just do away with it all together at some point, but now knowing what I know, I don't think we would want to give up the seniority of that domain.

I think that's what I would do too.  I would wait 6 months or so while you get your new site on Google page 1.  Then start looking at changing the old one over to here.

Visually looks pretty good Bryan, you need some SEO work though. Check the SEO thread out, lots of great stuff to learn and implement. One of the ones I noticed was ALT text for the images. And you need a llink for www.squareonehomeinspection.com . Check oput the link thread and all the SEO stuff. Now, it's Friday afternoon, about 35 degrees here, so I am taking my boat out for the first time this year for some Big Pike. A little chilly, but oh well.

Help!!! O.k, I change my home page URL from home-inspector-home.html to GSI-home-inspector-indianapolis.html, changed the path under Home in the menu to GSI-home-inspector-indianapolis.html and now when I go to the website from the browser, I get a page not found message, but when I click on home in the menu the page shows up. I tried changing everything back, but no luck, what did I do wrong and how do I fix it!?

Update: O.K. I got it change back to the way it was, so at least the home page is showing properly when someone navigates there, but how do I change it so the url is GSI-home-inspector-indianapolis....isn't that what I want for SEO?

You changed the URL but not the link in the menu.  I think that's what the problem was.  If Dom were here he could tell you for sure.
