TOPIC: Web site payment security

Web site payment security 15 years 9 months ago #8876

Had someone look over my web site and they raised the question about making payments on web site .
Even with the Security button they looked for https or the padlock at bottom of screen because thats what
they are used to seeing to make them think the site is secure for entering their info.
Anybody else had this question raised or is there a way to include the s on http or have
padlock show up at bottom?

Might seem picky but since they are used to seeing certain things thats what they want to see.

The page actually is secure. What you've done is embed a secure page into your site. If you right click on the page and select, open frame in new window you'll see what I mean. In your case the page you've embedded is www.homeinspectorpro.com/component/optio...210/inspectorID,716/ (notice the https). Since we're trying make your site look cohesive you're embedding it. You could link the person directly to the https page if you wanted to. The reason everyone doesn't have a https page is that you'd have to buy a secure certificate which is a few hundred bucks PER SITE. The way we're doing it, we paid for a certificate and you're sharing it.

I've had a total of 3 or 4 guys over the past year say a client has said something. If you ever have this problem just give them the direct link above. You were also emailed a few other links that you can email them that will fill in the price as well.

Thanks for the reply Dominic.
I remember seeing the links in the email you sent me.
Now I know how to explain it to someone if the question
ever comes up.

No problem ;) One of our competitors that has credit card processing has the credit card link automatically take them to their softwares site to process the card. We were trying to avoid that as I'd heard lots of complaints about that. This was the easiest secure system.
