TOPIC: Book an inspection form

(1)On by Book an Inspection form I can choose which fields are required.  I made the Preferred Inspection Time field optional but when I tried to fill the form and clicked submit, the following message came up; Preferred Inspection Time field is required.  I'd rather this is not a required field so visitors can use the form for a quote request or for a general question as well.  Where may I have gone wrong.
(2) On the bottom of this same form, there is a form to post a comment.  Is this unrelated to the Book an Inspection form?  I have comments disabled but is does show up when I go to this page (as visitor.) I entered a comment and posted it.  When I logged in as administrator, the comment showed up as white letters on a pink background, (presumably because it is disabled?) I clicked on the reply button which resulted in a message which said: you are replying to a message that doesn't exist.
Can someone explain this?

Bert, I think I know what is wrong, but not positive. When you edit the form components, you hit submit to save a change to each particular component. Then it takes to the page that list ALL the separate components. Hit submit there as well, and it should save your changes to the form.

Bert you still have comments enabled. Make sure on the main book an inspection edit page (not the components section) that you turn off comments and then submit.

That's it.  It's so easy once you know it. 
As to the Preferred Inspection Time, I deleted it altogether.  If I figure out how to set it so it is not a required field, I can add it again. 

When you edit the field itself there's a checkbox to make it mandatory or not.

Yes.  That box was unchecked.
