TOPIC: Is my site cottage cheese or what?

Is my site cottage cheese or what? 15 years 5 days ago #25492

All right. I've heard nice comments on my website from friends and clients but it's time to get you guys opinion. Please critique and don't sugar coat it (been around long enough to know you won't) just an honest opinion. What is it missing? What would you do differently-Why? I think it looks pretty good-SIMPLE, to the point, uncluttered...I've gone to some inspectors pages that are disorganized and crammed so full of stuff it really makes me just want to leave! And I do! (Not that I'm looking for an inspector) but you get the idea. Feel free to email me as well. Thanks in advance. MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hi Tobin,

I only looked at a few pages, and have some advice. The site looks good, but try some of these suggestions to drive more traffic.

I would remove any link that takes the client to another website where the client can search for other home inspectors, like the ActiveRain link. It will go to your profile, but they can then search AR for other inspectors.

Any links should pop up in a new window or tab. Some of your links take the client away from your page, they may never make it back.

Re name your menu items in the navigation for better SEO.

What is on your home page does not make the client want to call you. Every home inspector has that same content. The client already knows all of that or they would not be looking for a home inspector. Plus, the client expects most of what you promise on that page. Every other inspector promises the same; why are you different? What do you offer that the other guy does not?

I would rewrite the Meta keywords and description for better SEO.

Add city pages and county pages with links to the pages.

Make sure you have your keywords and phrases in your content.

Add news feeds so the search engines will visit your site more often.

Add video or a slideshow to capture the clients attention.

What Mike said :)

You're definitely missing out on the SEO front. Your home page needs to have your main cities and the phrase home inspection 3-5 times. You have the cities once at the bottom. With that you're not going to rank on Google.

Add your name and photo on the left where it says call you. This helps the client 'know you.'

More later when I have some time!
