TOPIC: How To Add A New Page

How To Add A New Page 16 years 9 months ago #450

Here is a tutorial on how to add a new page to your website. This is now an animated tutorial as well. Click on Website Tutorials from the main page of our website on the left side.

1. Make sure you are logged into your website.

2. Under the Create Content Menu, click on Page

3. Enter in the Page Name , for example "Thermal Inspections"

4. Skip the Pages drop down box.

5. Type in all the content you want to appear on the page in the Body box. It works just like word or any other document program. You
can adjust the font size, color, insert photos, tables, anything you want.

6. (Optional , but HIGHLY recommended) Click on the Meta Tags link to open up extra options. Fill them out according to the Meta Tags tutorial in this section. This is required for you to get high search engine rankings.

7. Click on Menu Settings to expand the Menu Settings section. The Title is the word(s) that will appear on the Menu. The Description is what appears if the user just hovered their mouse over the menu link, this is usually a little more detailed than the Titile. Leave the Parent Item set to Navigation for the Menu name (if you set it to something else you actually create sub menus). You can change the Weight to move menus up and down. A -10 goes to the very top, 10 goes to the very bottom.

8. Click URL Path Settings to set the address for the page. See my notes in this section about naming your pages. For our example I would use home-inspector-thermal-imaging.html

9. Click Publishing and make sure Published is clicked.

10. Click Submit and you're done!

Dominic, isn't there a way to change the weight of all the pages at the same time? I recall being able to change the weight like you can do with the blocks.

Not exactly. If you click on Menu's you can see just the pages with menus and move them easier than seeing all your content. In the next version of the sites which we're currently working on you can drag and drop the pages around.

Dominic,
I tried to add some pages today. I did it before so tried and got message:Page not found. I thought that I forgot something, went to the tutorial-no I did everything right. I think that I have a problem again with URL PATH setting. I tried to set it but may be I was wrong and because of that page was not found? And I didn't find your article here how to set URL PATH.

Make sure you don't have any ' or & in your url path. It should be just letters and hyphens like radon-testing.html. If you still get page not found let us know what your URL path is set to.
